The General Remedy ,in Hebrew Tikkun HaKlali, is a selection of ten Psalms that Rabbi Nachman (see Rabbi Nachman blog) recommended for recital as a general spiritual remedy, bringing inner purity and joy as well as many other benefits, and in particular as the remedy for a chance emission of seed.

According to some Kabbalistic ,the original Hebrew text of the Psalms contains profound hidden wisdom and includes a complete musical system referred to as the Ten Types of Shirim (“Songs”) . Rabbi Nachman taught that there are ten Psalms that contain all the “Ten Types of Songs” and named all these ten Tikkun Haklali. The Ten Psalms are: 16, 32, 41, 42, 59, 77, 90, 105, 137 and 150, the last chapter in Pslams:

הַלְלוּ-יָהּ:
הַלְלוּ-אֵל בְּקָדְשׁוֹ;    הַלְלוּהוּ, בִּרְקִיעַ עֻזּוֹ.  הַלְלוּהוּ בִגְבוּרֹתָיו;    הַלְלוּהוּ, כְּרֹב גֻּדְלוֹ.  הַלְלוּהוּ, בְּתֵקַע שׁוֹפָר;    הַלְלוּהוּ, בְּנֵבֶל וְכִנּוֹר.  הַלְלוּהוּ, בְּתֹף וּמָחוֹל;    הַלְלוּהוּ, בְּמִנִּים וְעֻגָב.  הַלְלוּהוּ בְצִלְצְלֵי-שָׁמַע;    הַלְלוּהוּ, בְּצִלְצְלֵי תְרוּעָה. כֹּל הַנְּשָׁמָה, תְּהַלֵּל יָהּ:            הַלְלוּ-יָהּ.

“ Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

Many Breslover Hasidim recite the Tikkun HaKlali every day. Women also recite it as a general rectification for sin.The Tikkun HaKlali is based on the idea of the Brit (“Covenant”) which God made with the Hebrew people. In return for absolute allegiance to God on the part of the nation, God promised to be their God and to give them the land of Israel as an inheritance .

As a mark of this Covenant, God commanded Abraham to perform the mitzvah of Brit Milah -”circumcision” ( see the blog of the chair of elijha ).
