Why The Lord said to Moses- I am the god of your father?

When God revealed himself to Moses in the book of Exodus firstly he said 3 words in Hebrew-

“אָנֹכִי אֱלֹהֵי אָבִיךָ”

“‘I am the God of thy father” (Ex. 3:6)

the burning bush

One of the question that will never ask is how Moses believed him, how did he know that this is the God of his father and not another God, maybe an angel nor a dream or hallucination?

Well, my friends, the midrash is saying that Moses was gullible, naïve person (peti in Hebrew) and it was like the verse in the book of Proverbs 14:15

“פֶּתִי, יַאֲמִין לְכָל-דָּבָר”

“The thoughtless believeth every word”

The meaning of this word, peti, in Arabic is a boy or a lad. Another thing that the midrash is telling is that The Lord tempted Moses like he has done to Jeremiah.

These two interpretations are mocking about the ability of Moses to understand who is God, but they don’t explain yet why God called himself the God of your father.

The answer lies on the intensity of the voice of The Lord. God said: if I would reveal myself to him with strong voice he would be scared. If it will be too quiet, he wouldn’t understand, so he revealed himself with the voice of Moses’ father!

Know whose account we are talking about here in OT, as we all know the kingdom of God is within. Whose kingdom of god does these scripture represent? Outside or inside this kingdom of god So, whose account are we talking about here?

What is the concern here with Moses, when the whole OT beginning with the account of heaven and earth, and continue to account of Noah and account of Abraham.

Who is the God of Moses when you can’t even define who is the God of their Fathers? Are they inside or outside the Kingdom of God? So ,,,, what do you know about this statement?

“Why The Lord said to Moses- I am the god of your father?”

What is the linkage here about Moses in OT. Can you open up the Water/Word and walk across the [Dead Sea] ?
