The time of the righteous people and the time of the evil people

One of the questions that I keep asking myself from day till night is what really God knows about us- can he tell a priori whether a man would be righteous or evil- do we have a choice, a free will, or everything is clear for him?

One the metaphor that is being used is the time of the day, which helps us to distinguish between the good and the evil.

In the beginning of the book of Genesis we are having this verse that is written:

“וְהָאָרֶץ, הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ, וְחֹשֶׁךְ, עַל-פְּנֵי תְהוֹם; וְרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים, מְרַחֶפֶת עַל-פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם. וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים, יְהִי אוֹר; וַיְהִי-אוֹר”

“Now the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters. And God said: ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light”

day

One of the sages of Israel took those verses and he described them as times when the righteous people act and do and times that the evil persons act and do. Rabbi Yanay said that when the earth was unformed, when there is darkness, when there is a evening or night- this is the time of the evil; when the earth was with light and the day was just a day – this is the time of the good people.

night

By the way, the Zohar took the meaning of the night not as a bad metaphor, yet a good one – the time when the good people, the righteous one, could be closer to The Lord.

Which time of the day you prefer more- the day or the night?

One Response to The time of the righteous people and the time of the evil people

  1. Luis Enrique Antolín says:

The day is the time of God between us,of God with us,but this one is not actually our time for now in the earth,so we can consider the night as the time of wait,of hope, for the bright day to come.
