1. Abraham was born under the name Abram in the city of Ur in Babylonia.

2. Abraham was the son of Terah, and brother to Nahor and Haran.

3. Abraham was the Patriarch of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

4. At age 75, G-d appeared to Abram to tell him that G-d would assign the land to his heirs as mentioned in Genesis 12:7-

וַיֵּרָא יְהוָה, אֶל-אַבְרָם, וַיֹּאמֶר, לְזַרְעֲךָ אֶתֵּן אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת; וַיִּבֶן שָׁם מִזְבֵּחַ, לַיהוָה הַנִּרְאֶה אֵלָיו.”

“And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said: ‘Unto thy seed will I give this land’; and he builded there an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.”

5. According to the Book of Genesis 15:18, G-d declared all the regions of land that Abraham’s offspring would claim as follows:

בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, כָּרַת יְהוָה אֶת-אַבְרָם–בְּרִית לֵאמֹר:  לְזַרְעֲךָ, נָתַתִּי אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת, מִנְּהַר מִצְרַיִם, עַד הַנָּהָר הַגָּדֹל נְהַר-פְּרָת

“In that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: ‘Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates;

6. According to the Old Testament, 3 angels came to Abraham and Sarah’s tent and promised them that Sarah will give birth to a   baby boy.

7. Abraham’s elder son was Ishmael (Hagar’s son) and next was Isaac (Sarah’s son). When Isaac was born, Abraham was 100 years old and his first wife Sarah was 90. Abraham was commanded by God to offer his son up as a sacrifice in the land of Moriah. Abraham was willing to scarify Isaac for God’s order.

8. Abraham was the first person who got circumcised.

9. In the Aggadah Abraham is seen as the ideal figure which kept the oral law before it was revealed.

10. According to Jewish tradition, Abraham died at the age of 175 and was buried by Isaac and Ishmael in a cave of Machpelah.

    It appears then that there is a very close relationship.Is it also true that the Ishamaelites settled in the current region occupied by Arabs, if so how were these people worshipping before the arrival of Islam

    I respectfully disagree that Abraham was the
    Patriarch of Islam, Abraham beleived in the
    One True God who chose him and Sarah to be the
    Example of real Faith in the Lord.
    He was of course the Proginator of others beside Isaac, [Ishmael and Keturahs children.]

    Enjoyed the reading. I also disagree with the statement that Abraham was the Patriarch of Islam. Knowledge of bible scripture will reveal that Abraham was called out from his people to serve one Yah and that from his seed would come the Messiah which Islam does not recognize as a god in the flesh. Neither does Islam believe Messiah was crucified nor resurrected.
